About Wahroonga

Wahroonga is an exclusive community on Sydney's Upper North Shore, New South Wales City, Australia.  It sits 17 kilometers northwest of the central business district of Sydney, in the Ku-ring-gai Council and Hornsby Shire division of local government.

History of Wahroonga

The Wahroonga term for our home is an Aboriginal term. In the early days of New South Wales' British settlement the biggest thing was to burn down the large trees that grew up there.

Thomas Hyndes, a prisoner who became a rich landowner, first colonized Wahroonga by the British in 1822.
