About Wahroonga

Wahroonga is an exclusive community on Sydney`s Upper North Shore, New South Wales City, Australia.  It sits 17 kilometers northwest of the central business district of Sydney, in the Ku-ring-gai Council and Hornsby Shire division of local government.

History of Wahroonga

The Wahroonga term for our home is an Aboriginal term. In the early days of New South Wales` British settlement the biggest thing was to burn down the large trees that grew up there.

Thomas Hyndes, a prisoner who became a rich landowner, first colonized Wahroonga by the British in 1822.
