History of Telopea

The Telopea suburb is situated between Pennant Hills Road and Adderton Lane, spreading over the ridge into Dundas Valley's west. The neighborhood of Oatlands sits to its south.

The name of the suburb comes from the plant New South Wales Telopea speciosissima (Waratah), which once abounded in the region.

The local land custodians are the Wallamettagul clan, while the territory is strongly bordered by the Darug Nation's Burramattagal clan.
