About Normanhurst 

Normanhurst is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located 20 kilometres north-west of the Sydney CBD in the local government area of Hornsby Shire.

History of Normanhurst

The land now known as Normanhurst was originally known as Hornsby. It was named by Constable Samuel Horne when he captured bushrangers along with  John Thorn.  

In honour of Norman Selfe, a prominent civil engineer who built Gilligaloola, the land was renamed as Normanhurst. 

Tourist Attraction in Normanhurst

Normanhurst has Gilligaloola, one of the heritage-listed sites. It is a house built by Selfe that consists of a Farmhouse and Garden. 

Davidson Park, the only listed park in Normanhurst. It features play equipment, picnic tables, shaded areas, and Cafes nearby. 

Normanhurst also has several small waterfalls, which promote reptile and marsupial life.
