History of Bella Vista

Joseph Foveaux sold 400 hectares (980 acres) of land to John Macarthur in 1801. 

John Macarthur and her wife, Elizabeth Macarthur, along with their properties in Camden and Parramatta, used the land to raise sheep in this area.

John Macarthur’s wife, Elizabeth, took over the property while he was away. She was responsible for maintaining the different properties and flocks in Mac Arthur’s farm called the “Seven Hills Farm”. It was used primarily for the raising of their merino flocks.
