History of Pennant Hills

The region was first surveyed, shortly after 15 April 1788, by Governor Arthur Phillip. The group was reported to have had 'fine views of inland mountains' (the Blue Mountains). 

There are two theories about the root of the name of the suburb. One is that the name derives from a hill in the early days of New South Wales.

Originally the term Pennant Hills referred to the region now known as West Pennant Hills, in the Hills District.
