Looking for Valentine's Day gifts?

Are Aussies UNDERWHELMING Their Loved Ones on Valentine’s Day

Have you ever wondered if your other half lives under a rock come Valentine’s Day? Are you the only one in your friendship circle being overlooked at this time of year? Well,  in reality, you are far from alone. It seems that the Australian Valentine’s Day is the lite version of what other parts of the world enjoy.

So whilst there will be a influx of loved up pics of coupledom this week to scroll through on Instagram, do not feel left out. According to ME banks Love and Money survey, 81% of Aussies believe it is the thought that counts, and only 56% intend on celebrating Valentine’s Day this year. You may see more gestures of love than gifts on your IG feed, maybe a snap of a home cooked meal, or a walk along the beach and a bouquet from the local florist.

Love hearts.

It also seems that love (or at least the gestures of love) fade as we age, with the 18-24 group spending up big on the days celebrations.

That in itself kind of makes me sad….how about you?

Valentine's Day gift ideas for those who have been married long term

We all know youth is beauty, and the younger versions of ourselves probably did fall head over heels far too quickly, declaring our undying love to the world within the first 10minutes. But as I age I find that there is something so attractive about people in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s who have such a strong sense of identity and who have truly learned to love and value themselves. And isn’t confidence the most attractive thing?

What a shame it is that as we get older, people assume that the frivolities of a day such as Valentine’s Day are wasted. Doesn’t everyone love to feel loved and appreciated, desired, and adored? With our life experience we are better equipped to truly appreciate a partner’s efforts however small. And I bet we are also better at making our partner feel special and tailoring our efforts to their personality far better than our younger days also.

Older generations and love

I want to set you all a challenge: if your partner has stood by you through the hard times, the sad times, enjoyed and celebrated your success and giggled with you along the way, show them that it has not gone unnoticed. This isn’t to suggest you pick the biggest and most ostentatious gift or bunch of fresh cut flowers you can find on Thursday. I truly do believe it is the thought that counts. Choose well, give some thought to what they love. Write a heartfelt card message detailing the things you love about them.

And even if Valentine’s Day isn’t usually a day you celebrate, throw caution to the wind, get carried away in the spirit of it all. If you would like to chat to one of our amazing staff call 02) 9871-1666 otherwise you can check out our Valentine’s Day menu here. We will of course have a variety of fresh cut flowers, bouquets and arrangements made up for purchase on the day, so you can head in store to choose something special.

Enjoy lovers 😉

Red roses for Valentine's day

Valentine’s Day Is Coming- Don’t Miss Your Opportunity For Love

With one week to go until Valentine’s Day, it may come as a surprise to you, but florists are already starting to get busy and working extended hours behind the scenes.

For many florists, Valentine’s Day falls at the tail end of Chinese New Year celebrations, so don’t be surprised if your usually fresh faced peppy florist is looking a little worse for wear. Some of us are running on pure adrenaline, maybe with a little help from our friends coffee Cola or another source of energy 😉

That says ‘rose’ right? That seems like an appropriate thing for a florist to say right? 😉Source: Great Memorable Quotes.

Over my career in floristry I have been blessed to work for pretty awesome small businesses (and big businesses), with great management teams in place and strong organisational skills. When I was hearing stories of some of my floristry classmates working 24 hours straight, I was almost embarrassed to admit I had gone home and had at least 8 hours sleep before another round.

It may sound crazy but this can be a reality for many in the industry. And rather than this be a sob story, this is written simply to illustrate what our world can look like at this time of year and how that effects the way we work.

Like many industries working with fresh products, time is of the essence. And much like a wedding, birthday or funeral for that matter, on Valentine’s Day, you really have to deliver the goods on time. Like, sending Valentine’s Day flowers on February 15th isn’t really going to fly, if you get my drift 😉 That means, that the goods have got to be ready, right? And so next week your local florist will be working like a machine to make sure all those fresh flower deliveries are ready for Valentine’s Day, even if that means working through the night.

Market fresh roses
Flowers fresh from the market. Source: Starting with A.

In this week leading up to Valentine’s Day there are many other jobs that require attention. Have we received an adequate number of sundry items to fulfil the orders? Can we pre make the boxes, line them with our signature wrapping, and neatly stack them somewhere? Can we start making decorative ribbons? Can we soak floral foam and have containers filled ready to work in? Don’t forget all those boxed roses come with individual phials of water..better start filling them up too.

What about the pile of orders building up in the Valentine’s Day tray? Every single order has a card message on it…and for most small businesses, these messages are still hand written….so we try to stay on top of the pile as best as we can.

You can generally still order flowers for Valentines Day right up until the day, however my advice to anyone who wishes to order is to get in as early as you can.

Well, for a small business, we have to order our stock some weeks in advance, and once it is sold, it is sold. The reality is it is unlikely we will be able to secure more of the same products closer to the day as it is often already allocated to another business.

Bouquet of a dozen red roses
A dozen fresh red roses, a beautiful gift for Valentine’s Day. Shop our Valentine’s Day range.

Similarly, once a delivery run is full, an area will need to be closed off. Drivers can only physically deliver a certain amount of orders in any one day within the time constraints of office hours, or at a reasonable time at home addresses. What is the sense of biting off more than you can chew? If you overload a driver it is unlikely he will be able to deliver, and as a consequence, your business does not deliver in EVERY sense to your customer.

Its not too late to order, in fact, now is the perfect time….check out our Valentine’s Day range here.

Will You Accept This Rose…?

How have we already got through the first month of the year? If, like me, this has taken you by surprise, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but we only have 2 weeks until Valentine’s Day. That probably seems like a reasonable amount of time to order a bunch of fresh flowers, and you know what, you’re right. This years Valentine’s Day menu is live, and you can find it right here.

Believe it or not, Valentine’s Day celebrations tend to be BIGGER, when the day falls during the work week. Now, why do you suppose that is? 🤔🤔🤔 Not only do you get the appreciation of your lover, but somehow, you also manage to earn the admiration of their colleagues and friends as well.

Impressing your love interests friends and family sits pretty high up on the list of things to do in a new relationship. But even those in long term relationships know that the road to love is a lot smoother when those closest to you ‘approve’ of your choices in love and life.

So what will it be?

Are you going to keep it simple with a single Rose?

Make a statement about your feelings with an extravagant bouquet of either 50,or 100 roses?

Valenine’s Day is an extremely busy time of year for all florists, so these are some things you should keep in mind:

  • Order early if you have something specific in mind
  • Valentine’s Day menus are designed to ensure quality products and delivery services can be provided on what is the busiest single day on the florist calendar.
  • Order directly with the Florist so you can guarantee that what you are choosing is something they can fulfil. Ask for shop recommendations if you are ordering in an unfamiliar area.
  • Be realistic regarding deliveries. Valentine’s Day is extremely busy, so delivery runs are worked out in a logical fashion, and according to area. Specific time frames can not be promised or guaranteed.

Want to to try something a little different this year for Valentine’s Day? What about teaming your fresh bunch of roses, with rose petal confetti, and this Rose infused taste sensations 🌹 🍸

I found this Rose Petal Cocktail on The Flavor Bender and it can be made with or without alcohol.

The colour orange is typically associated with passion and desire. The bright shade of orange may also reflect the passion and enthusiasm that you feel about the bond that you have with your partner.

Do’s and Dont’s of Flower Delivery for Valentine’s Day in Sydney

When it comes to choosing the perfect flowers on Valentine’s Day, things can get pretty frustrating for men. A beautiful bouquet for your partner shows the deep love and desire that you have for her, thus it becomes important to learn how to carefully pick the perfect flowers for Valentine’s Day.

In this article, we will enumerate the do’s and don’ts before you call a flower delivery service in Sydney:

  • Do be discerning when choosing a Sydney-based florist

Of course, the florist you should do business with should share the same values as yours. In addition, it is also important that they adhere to high standards of quality and customer service. The arrangements of the florist should pass your taste and preferences. In addition, make sure that they are prompt at delivering orders to recipients. An efficient flower delivery service in Sydney should be able to meet any delivery request of clients.

Lastly, it is important that you check out reviews and feedbacks from customers. Look through their social media and check if clients are satisfied with their level of customer service.

  • Do order in advance

Valentine’s Day is an extremely hectic season for florists. If you want to ensure that fresh blooms arrive at your lover’s doorstep, make sure to place your reservations a few weeks ahead.

  • Don’t make last minute flower delivery orders

It’s not a good idea to order flowers until the last minute. The chances of them running out of flower arrangements and bouquets are higher on the day, or even a day before Valentine’s Day. In addition, flower arrangements that are bought last minute may not be as fresh and affordable than those which are reserved for delivery a week or a few weeks before heart’s day.

Now that you have gained some vital knowledge on how to order flowers for Valentine’s Day, you may now call today to place your orders. You may reach us on 02 9871 1666.

The Top 3 Classic Valentine’s Flowers in Sydney

Picking the perfect flowers to send to loved ones during Valentine’s Day can be brutally difficult for men. If you are completely clueless about which flowers are perfect to be delivered to your significant other, we are here to help you pick the ones that they will surely appreciate.

In this guide, we will give you some pointers on which Valentine’s Day flowers to choose from and where you can request them to be delivered to your beloved recipient.

  • Roses

Roses are the quintessential Valentine’s Day flowers. The red petals symbolise passion and beauty like no other flower can. It was in Ancient Greek when roses were first being offered as a symbol of devotion to the goddess of love, Aphrodite. The long stems of roses are just as equally elegant and beautiful as the flowers they hold. If you are an old-school romantic, a bouquet of long-stemmed red roses is the best way to go.

  • Carnations

If you are planning to send Valentine’s flower to a loved one in Sydney CBD, the little blossoms of fragrant carnations are an excellent option, too. They are not only meant to be sent out to your significant other but to whomever, you feel genuine love; be it your parents, relatives, or friends.

  • Tulips

The beautiful bulbs of tulips have always symbolized perfect love. They come in different colours and each colour represents the different types of loving emotions for people you love and care about:

  • Cream-coloured petals symbolise everlasting love.
  • White petals symbolize budding love.
  • Pink petals showcase compassion and affection.
  • Orange petals are associated with passion and desire.

You don’t have to stick with just one-colour when picking tulips for Valentine’s Day. You can have different colours bundled up in a bouquet to create a grander surprise to your recipient.

There is no shortage of flower shops in Sydney CBD, but if you wish to experience excellent customer service, affordable Valentine’s Day flowers, and prompt delivery, call us on 02 9871 1666 today.

Loving Valentine’s Day

Although the concept of Valentine’s Day is to ensure people feel loved, it is sometimes impossible to get caught up in comparing how much you are loved when you look at what others are sending or receiving.

Like much of our lives these days, our Valentine’s Day gifts are yet another opportunity to show others how well we are doing, or how much we are admired…As a result, sometimes Valentine’s Day can be a bit of a downer for some. Valentine’s Day can be both a day of celebration and a day of commiseration, a day full of hope, and a day full of disappointment.  BUT Valentine’s Day does provide the perfect opportunity to let those around you know that you love them, romantically, or otherwise.

Whether you are able to send a single rose, or 100 roses to the object of your affection, remember that the mere fact that you have taken the time to organise your flower delivery will win you points. Write a heartfelt card message to accompany your fresh flowers, BONUS POINTS to you!!! If you have booked a favourite restaurant, a special place for you as a couple, or created a menu that you will execute in the kitchen yourself…well, you are going to have a hard time topping this next year  🤣 Pace yourself!

A single rose- a classic Valentine’s Day delivery

We’ve created a Valentine’s Day menu that has something for everyone. All the Floral arrangements are available for delivery throughout our local Carlingford area as well as Greater Sydney. We offer a range of gifts from simple boxed single roses, to elaborate floral arrangements of long stemmed red roses, or mixed flowers too.

High School aged children often like to organise single flowers for their circle of friends, and in this case, we would recommend something bright and fun rather than a rose- perhaps a gerbera?

In my experience, people don’t struggle too much with choosing flowers on Valentine’s Day. There is a level of expectation that they will get red roses in some form or another. IF their partner has let it be known that red roses are not going to cut it, then they are also pretty sure on what will. The area most people have difficulty with is those all important heartfelt messages written inside the card. You are not alone if you are struggling to find the words you need to express yourself. For this reason, we have previously written a blog post with some inspiration for your card messages – click here to check it out

Remember, if you have something special in mind, do not hesitate to speak to one of our floral designers on the phone on 02 9871 1666 or come in store and put something together with us.
